Zod is the Man in Black on the Man of Steel Set

According to the boys and girls at the Superman Facebook page, this is Michael Shannon, sans motion-capture doohickeys, on the set of Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel”. In “Man of Steel”, Shannon plays General Zod, Superman’s fellow Kryptonian who, along with Faora (Antje Traue), shows up on Earth o cause some problems for our intergalactic illegal alien, played by Henry Cavill.

The images are a bit blurry and you can’t really see Shannon’s face all that clearly, so it could be his stunt double. In any case, this is supposedly Zod. Or it might not be. If this is Shannon as Zod (or even his stunt double), the look of the uniform is somewhat similar to Superman’s suit.

“Man of Steel” also stars Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Christopher Meloni, Julia Ormond, and Harry Lennix. Shannon attacks June 14, 2013.

Shannon looks badass!!! Can’t believe this is the same dude who was banging Eminem’s mom in 8 MILE and got abused by Martin and Will in BAD BOYS 2….amazing…..OAN, I like how there’s consistency in the costume desgins (“Made on Krypton”).

Exactly! I love how these could be Kryptonian military uniforms or spaceships or something. And the idea of Zod being like a dark, conquered Superman is cool. It’s like if Bizarre was intelligent and malevolent. If they ever do Bizarre they need to make his scary and disturbing like Alex Ross did. He basically took Superman and put him through the “Ring” and “Grudge” filter.

I think that’s one thing about the SMALLVILLE mythology that I liked…..I had Superman taking some major pride in his Kryptonian heritage….something I don’t remember seeing in the other films. I think the the animated series had some of this though. I just love how their uniforms in this film all scream “Earth military wears fatigues…..OUR military wears THIS!!! Suck it, earthlings.” Lol

Yeah the animated series definitely had him as a man of two worlds. Clark was thoroughly American but Superman still had great pride and wonder for his Kryptonian heritage. And if that is their military gear then that would be cool.
        Sent on the go!

I’m cool with that. seems to be Superman’s suit is actually a Kryptonian combat suit but a bit modified.

No, that’s him. You can clearly see his face from the side.
