Zoe Bell in Raze (2012) Movie Image

Watching Zoe Bell punch, kick, and fight her way through action-packed motion pictures is always a certified cinematic blast. Since I’ll probably never get a proper follow-up to director Paul Etheredge’s 2009 effort “Angel of Death,” I’ll just have to settle for Josh C. Waller’s female fight flick “Raze.” That’s not necessarily a bad thing, mind you.

If you’ve seen the trailer for the flick, then you already know what to expect from this thing. A group of women are abducted and forced to fight one another with their bare hands. It’s billed as an action/horror hybrid, though I’m sure there’s certain guys out there who will turn this endeavor into a full-on fap fest. Don’t look at me like that. There are dudes in this world who think female-oriented MMA matches are better than porn.

I know I’m gross. Just read this synopsis and leave me alone.

Stuntwoman-turned-action-star Zoe Bell (“Death Proof”) headlines this sly subversion of the women-in-prison genre. When Sabrina is mysteriously abducted, she finds herself in an underground lair, forced to do battle with other innocents for the amusement of unseen spectators. Each of these reluctant warriors has something to lose, but only one will remain when the game is done. Violent and relentless, Raze takes its video game aesthetic to the deepest and darkest places, rarely surfacing for air.

“Raze” arrives in select theaters on January 10. Expect a VOD and home video release shortly thereafter. Before taking a look at the new poster, watch this trailer.

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided. He's happily married, in his 30's, and totally badass. If you'd like to reach Todd, you can follow him on Twitter or send him email/scoops to todd (at) beyondhollywood.com.
